A2: There may be more agreements, but I expect them to be like this with countries that were not really at war with Israel. A senior UAE official recently told me that if Israel wanted peace, Israel could only be reached by an agreement with the Palestinians, which clearly would not normalize relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Instead, it is a collapse of Arab solidarity on the Palestinian issue, which has existed for three quarters of a century. Prime Minister Netanyahu said there was « no change » in plans to cancel parts of the West Bank if approved by the United States, but added that they would be temporarily suspended. Prior to the agreement, the plan to annex the West Bank by 30% had already been frozen, with the majority of Israelis and government coalition partners Benny Gantz rejecting the plan. Hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers live in the territories, in addition to Palestinians who in practice were under Israeli control. Yousef Al Otaiba, the UAE`s ambassador to the United States, issued a statement on 13 August in which he hailed the agreement as a « victory for diplomacy and for the region, » adding how it « reduces tensions and creates new energy for positive change. » Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to the President of the United States, condemned Kuwait`s position. However, according to Al Jazeera, his conviction was widely shared on the Internet as positive. However, the Government of Kuwait itself has remained silent on the agreement. On 18 August, 37 Kuwaiti MPs asked them to condemn the agreement. Two days earlier, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas, citing unnamed government sources, had indicated that the Kuwaiti government`s position vis-à-vis Israel was unchanged.
Protests and demonstrations have taken place in many cities in Pakistan to condemn the agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) official Hanan Ashrawi criticized the agreement and wrote on Twitter: « Israel has been rewarded for not openly declaring what it has done illegally and stubbornly to Palestine since the beginning of the occupation. » Fatah accused the United Arab Emirates of « despising their national, religious and humanitarian duties » towards the Palestinian people, while Hamas declared it a « traitor sting in the back of the Palestinian people », saying that the agreement was a « free reward » for the « crimes and violations of the Palestinian people ». The standardization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, officially the Abraham Agreement: Peace Treaty, Diplomatic Relations and Complete Normalization between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel, was initially agreed in a joint declaration by the United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (United Arab Emirates) on August 13, 2020, officially known as the Abraham Agreement. The United Arab Emirates was the third Arab country after Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994 to agree to formally normalize relations with Israel, as well as the first Country in the Persian Gulf to do so. At the same time, Israel has agreed to suspend plans to annex parts of the West Bank. The agreement has normalized informal but robust external relations between the two countries for a long time. The agreement was signed at the White House on September 15, 2020. It was unanimously approved by the Israeli cabinet on 12 October and ratified by the Knesset on 15 October. The United Arab Emirates Parliament and Cabinet ratified the agreement on 19 October.
